To celebrate Holi Day, we are posting this basic, yet yummy Kanda Bhaji / Pakora recipe. (Onion Fritters)
Kanda Bhaji / Pakora
1 medium onion chopped
3-4 tablespoons of chickpea flour,
2/3 teaspoon salt(or to taste),
1 chopped Serrano chili pepper (less or more depending on needed spice)
1 bunch of chopped cilantro leaves,
2 teaspoons ginger
2 teaspoons garlic
1 pinch turmeric
1 pinch asafoetida
1 tablespoon oats
1 tablespoon rice flour
chili flakes to taste
1/4 teaspoon cumin powder
1/4 teaspoon carom seeds (Ajwain)
1.3 cm piece of ginger and enough warm water, blend to form a thick paste
500 ml Wilson’s Foods Canola Oil for shallow frying
Mix your onion, Serrano chili pepper, cilantro leaves, ginger and garlic together.
Mix in the chopped up veggies.
Deep fry spoonfuls of this mixture on medium high.
It should take just a few minutes for each side to turn a golden brown.
Serve hot, sprinkled with chaat masala, with tomato ketchup or chili sauce.
